Masella Ski Resort
On January 4th 2018, I went snowboarding to Masella. It was my first skiing experience in Spain and I had a lot of fun.
Masella is a ski resort in La Cerdanya, Girona. It is located in the Catalonian side of Spanish Pyrenees and its part of the Alp 2500 ski resort.
In Masella, there are a total of 62 runs, 5 chairlifts and 7 surface lifts. The highest point is called La Tosa and it is at 2 535 meters altitude.
The trip from Barcelona to Masella was well organized. We left from Plaça Catalunya at 6.30 in the morning and the bus trip took us about 2,5 hours. In the destination we got our tickets and rental equipment and went straight away to ski.
At first, we took a lift to the highest part of the mountain. The views were amazing. High up in the mountain the weather was a little bit colder, which meant that the runs down the hill were much better. During the day it was quite warm, so the snow was unfortunately icy in some parts of the slopes.
In my opinion, Masella is a good place for a daytrip or for a two days stay. The runs are kind of basic. You don’t need much time to run through every single one of the slopes, depending of course on your skiing skills.
The day went by really fast. At 15.30 we returned our equipment and went back to our bus. The bus trip to Barcelona started at 16.00. The price for the whole trip (including lift tickets, equipment rental and bus fare) was only 64€, so I really think it was worth of every penny.
Before I return back to Finland, I would also like to visit Andorra. If you have some experiences or recommendations from there, please feel free to send me an email to [email protected] or to Instagram @sofigoestobarcelona.
